Birds Barbershop

Birds Barbershop

The most recent location for Austin's home-grown style of barbershop took over an old Subway Restaurant in an existing multi-tenant shell building located in West Austin. We peeled away the out-dated ceilings, wall papers and lighting to express the steel structure above, creating a more inviting and open interior volume. With a focus on efficient barber chair layout, maximizing the height of the ceiling and providing and abundance of natural light we worked with the MEP engineer to consolidate all of the back-of-house and utility needs (employee break-room, laundry area, small office area and hair color station, HVAC & plumbing equipment) into one single volume in the space.
We worked with the client to select custom furniture, graphics, and lighting that represented Bird's iconic brand while also creating a new barbershop unique for this area of Austin. We worked with the client to design several custom millwork pieces that mainly function as retail display but also quietly hide trash bins, brooms and various other cleaning products from view.
